Wound management

What is wound management?

Wounds that require special care can occur both postoperatively and as a result of (chronic) diseases. The aim is to alleviate accompanying symptoms such as pain or itching, to increase freedom of movement through correct bandaging and generally to improve the quality of life. Finally, it can also reduce costs in the long term that may arise from treatments.

Competent wound management is essential for the healing process – but it is precisely this area that is a medical “gap”: very few doctors specialise in it and the nurses who actually take on this task unfortunately often do not have the decision-making power to be able to work efficiently. Some examples of successful wound management can be found here.
